What is an automatic jockey wheel?
Most car trailers, such as caravans or small rental trailers, come standard with a 150 kg jockey wheel. The outer tube of the jockey wheel is mounted to the trailer's drawbar using a clamp bracket.
Before setting off, the jockey wheel must be manually released, raised, and secured to ensure the trailer can be safely towed. When uncoupling, the wheel is lowered again by loosening the clamp and secured in this position using the clamp. Then, by cranking, an internal tube extends, allowing the trailer to be cranked up. With this type of jockey wheel, the wheel is attached to a rigid steel structure and cannot fold in or out on its own.
This work can be avoided if an automatic support wheel is installed.
The automatic jockey wheel offers a stable and simple solution for the trailer. Thanks to its special technology, the support tube does not need to be manually moved, released, and tightened. When cranked, the wheel lowers automatically, and retracts with a simple crank.
In our range you will find automatic support wheels from 400 kg support load.
